The SOUZ Cultural Project proudly presents the work of three young female artists — Tamara Shipitsina, Sasha Nesterkina, and Daria Emelyanova — at the 13th Cosmoscow Contemporary Art Fair. The SOUZ booth is titled “The Flower Vase Has Swayed to Spill Its Crystal Out” — a poetic line derived from a famous poem by Osip Mandelstam, capturing the fine, blurred line between the realms of dreaming and awakening.
In Nesterkina’s objects as well as in Shipitsina’s and Emelyanova’s paintings, crystal and similar symbolic images serve as a metaphor for the memories of bygone generations, as a bridge between the past and present. Charged with intense emotion and deep philosophical reflection, their works create an almost palpable sense of time.
“The artists have transformed the space of the booth into a delicate landscape of memories, where the feeling of home is permeated with the poetry of herbs, glass, and touch. The project was inspired by crystal as a symbol of nostalgia and the tranquil sanctity of the everyday — things lovingly preserved yet rarely touched. Here, nostalgia is not trauma but rather a subtle light that fills the room in a moment of silence,” the project’s curator Daria Tishkova said.
