My point of departure is my experience of living and travelling throughout Chile. I explore regions of significant volcanic and tectonic activity such as the Central Andes, the volcanoes of Araucanía, and the deserts and forests of the country’s northern and southern regions. Field observations, collected materials, and my experience of immigration gradually mutate into imaginary ecosystems where geological formations, atmospheric phenomena, and human and animal figures coexist within a single symbolic space.

Created against a backdrop of geopolitical tensions and economic and environmental crises, my works explore a state of uncertainty in which familiar reference frames lose their stability. I am interested in the moment when external geography begins to reflect an inner experience, and when myth becomes a way of understanding processes that cannot be fully explained through rational language.
Artist statement
Born in Ramenskoye, just outside Moscow, in 1995. In 2019, she earned a degree in Monumental and Decorative Art (Painting) from the Stroganov Moscow State Academy of Design and Applied Arts. She also studied at Free Workshops, the School of Contemporary Art at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA).

In her practice, Dudnikova explores the relationship between natural processes, mythology, and human experience through painting, sculpture, and installations. Her artistic method is shaped in no small part by lengthy observations of natural phenomena. Besides oil painting, she works with natural materials such as bird feathers and wood.

Over the past few years, her practice has focused on volcanic landscapes as spaces where instability and transformation transpire. She currently lives and works in Santiago, Chile. Her works are held in the collection of Zuzeum Museum, Riga, Latvia. She has participated in contemporary art fairs in Russia, South Korea, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
